Transportation

The ways that residents get around the
community and beyond, from driving safety to pedestrian infrastructure is a critical social determinant of health because it directly impacts physical activity, air quality, safety, and access to essential healthcare. Sustainable transport systems—such as cycling, walking, and public transit—reduce chronic diseases, prevent injuries, and mitigate environmental pollution. 

AFPC Accomplishment: The Connect-a-Ride (CaR) Program:

In partnership with the City of Pacifica and the Serra Cab company the program offers Pacifica residents that are 65 and over; $5 taxi rides up to 8 times per month.

The Senior Mobility Guide for San Mateo County is a comprehensive resource, compiled by SamTrans and San Mateo County Health, designed to help older adults and people with disabilities maintain independence, connectivity, and mobility. It acts as a guide for finding transportation alternatives to driving.
