Project Proposal: Rollout Beach Access Mat for pedestrians, wheelchair users, strollers, and wagons

Pacifica’s beaches are one of our community’s greatest natural assets. Installing a few beach access mat trails out onto Linda Mar Beach would make it possible for many more older adults, disabled adults, and people of all ages who have difficulty walking to get out onto the beach and enjoy being there.

Pending funding availability, the City of Pacifica will install three beach access mat trails on Linda Mar Beach to make it easier for people who have difficulty walking on soft sand to get out on the beach.

PAFCC has proposed using the beach access mats from April 1st to November 1st. These mats are made of a synthetic mesh-like material that provides a firmer surface for those who need it to cross the sand, such as people who use wheelchairs or other mobility aids. No special equipment is required.
